Create Your Training Product

It's usually only magicians that are thought to be able to create something out of nothing, but personal trainers can do it, too. And that something we create out of nothing are our personal training sessions.

We have what I consider the greatest skill that any human could have: the ability to create a product that people want to buy but at the same time is completely intangible.

Have you ever wondered about what a remarkable ability this is? Don't take it for granted. The next time you're delivering your sessions, try to think about it.

That's why I consider personal training such an unbelievable opportunity for any fitness enthusiast. It allows someone that could be starting with nothing the opportunity to create and sell an expensive product that people want to buy. Do it right, and you could be well on your way to a six-figure income yourself.

However, this involves knowing what goes into these training sessions and what makes them valuable. Here are some of these factors:

  • Fitness knowledge: The expertise you can call upon, demonstrate and apply during training sessions and toward the results of your clients.
  • Energy and passion: Your ability to bring enthusiasm and positive energy to your sessions. This is a major determinant of client retention.
  • Creating an experience: Personal training sessions should be a time of growth and improvement for the client. The ability to create this experience will allow a trainer to command much higher rates.
  • Professionalism: It almost goes without saying, but punctuality, preparedness and appearance are major factors in the quality of your training services. It's surprising how often they are overlooked, yet investing a little bit of time in these "little” things could be the difference between a high-earning training practice with floods of referrals and a trainer struggling to stay afloat.

When you actually start to think about your training sessions as a product and consider all of the factors that make it up, you've made a major breakthrough. It's at that point that you can start to make changes and improvements to these factors and thus have a high-value product.

Do you want to be more in demand, higher priced and perceived as superior and of higher value?
