Book Review: The Pilates Bible By Lynne Robinson, Lisa Bradshaw and Nathan Gardner
Firefly Books, Ltd.
Calling itself The Pilates Bible sets the bar high, but this book lives up to its title. It is a comprehensive detailing of Pilates, from fundamentals on the mat to advanced exercises on Pilates-specific equipment. There are also many exercises that those of us not well versed in Pilates but entrenched in functional exercise will recognize as our own. And I suspect to most fitness professionals, that is the fun of adding a book like The Pilates Bible to our libraries -- seeing how different exercise modalities and styles are not really separate and unique, but rather fully integrated into our daily workouts. The Pilates Bible is a great source of inspiration and explanation, adding exercises to your repertoire, and it's a must-have if Pilates is your specialty.
