What inspired you to start your business?
My vision for Excel Wellness Continuing Education was to host high-caliber, well-known, continuing education programs and educators. Eight years ago when I started this program we didn’t have any options for live workshops in this part of the Midwest and I didn’t see many area trainers that were in the position to travel across the country to the big conventions. I decided I would do that for them; I would attend the big conventions and then bring in great presenters to this part of the country. Excel’s mission is to stay on the cutting edge of the fitness industry and to offer exciting opportunities to everyone in the Kansas City Metro.

What is one hard lesson you’ve learned in business you believe has been most valuable?
I’m very inspired by learning and attending various workshops and conferences. I have been fortunate to develop a following of repeat attendees for all of my courses, however, it’s hard to see the fitness professional’s out there that won’t attend a course that could help them because they’ve already fulfilled their CEUs for the year. I’m fortunate that many of my followers do see the value in the workshops regardless of CEUS and they register course after course. I have learned to promote the value of the live course over the credit hours.

If I asked one of your clients why they choose Excel Wellness Continuing Education, what would they likely say?
Here are a few testimonials:

“Thanks Jill for bring quality Continuing Education to our area. It’s so great to be able to stay local, save money and be just as in the ‘know’ as someone attending a big conference in California”

“Thanks for bringing another great continuing education seminar to the KC area!! Definitely have lots of take homes after today's session.”

“Spent the last two days at one of the best, informative workshops. Thanks Jill for bringing quality presenters to the KC area!”

Name one or two ways you are trying to raise the bar in the industry?
The fitness industry is constantly evolving. I believe the only way a trainer can stay relevant and inspired is to attend live workshops. Learning in a hands-on environment makes a huge difference in your training technique and business, plus my attendees leave inspired and excited to get back to work. In an industry that is known for high burnout, that’s huge!

I have brought in easy access for affordable, relevant continuing education to the Midwest states such as: Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma and even a few more that attend. The same presenters that you are seeing at the big conferences are coming right here to Kansas City!

Thank you Jill for raising the bar!
